Affordable Self-Watering Solutions for Every Budget

Turn plastic shot glasses into clever self-watering pots—an easy and budget-friendly way to keep your plants hydrated! Simply follow these steps: make a hole in the bottom of one shot glass, thread a piece of jute rope or string through the hole, and tie a knot at the end that will touch the soil. Trim the rope to your desired length, then place this shot glass into a slightly taller one. And just like that, you’ve created a DIY self-watering pot!

Looking to propagate plants? The taller shot glasses are perfect for that too!

The Ultimate Rice Cleaning Trick

Can't clean the bottom of your long-necked jars that you used to propagate? No problem! Add a bit of rice to the jar, then add a bit of water, close the lid and swirl. The rice will scrub the glass. Rinse repeat!

Moss poles from unexpected places

Give your climbing plants the perfect support with a creative twist! Repurpose old hair rollers into functional and stylish moss poles. Here's how: wrap the rollers with moss or remove the Velcro from the rollers and stack them vertically by securing them with hot glue, zip ties, or super glue to achieve your desired height. Once assembled, cover them with Sphagnum moss, and voilà – an ingenious and affordable solution for your plants!

Repurpose with Purpose

Almost anything lying around your home can be creatively and resourcefully repurposed for your plants with a little imagination. Think takeout containers, spice jars, old stools, disposable pans, toothbrush holders, sauce jars, candle jars, or even old plates that may be collecting dust. The possibilities are practically limitless when it comes to giving new life and added purpose to everyday items for all your plant care needs!

Please, just let it drain.

Always remember to add drainage holes to any container in which a plant is directly planted, as this is crucial for proper water management and root health. You can create the holes using either a drill or a soldering iron, depending on your preference and the material you're working with.
However, if you plan to use the container as a decorative cover pot without planting directly inside, then drainage holes are not required at all.
